Bike Photos & Adventures
Besides weekly local rides, I sometimes participate in organized rides. Most notably, I usually participate in about 5 metric or English Century rides each year.

Two 1999 events that I have photos of are the Seagull Century in the Fall 1999 and a bike ride with some buddies of mine in the Spring 1999 on Backroads Touring Company's Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion Natl Park challenging bike & hike 9 day trip.
The Seagull Century has gained in popularity and had been rated in the past by both Bicycle Magazine and League Of American Bicyclists as one of the top 10 rides in the Country (USA).

It starts from Salisbury State University in Salisbury, MD and in 1999 had approximately 6000 riders. It's main draw is the 100 mile ride to Assateague Natl Park on the Atlantic Coast. You can put your foot in the ater and if you are lucky you may see a wild pony.

The ride includes a t-shirt, great snacks and support. They even have cherry/blueberry pie, ice cream, and live music at one of the rest stops and at the start/finish at Salisbury. At the conclusion of the ride you can take a shower at the University !
Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon & Zion Natl Park Ride

In the Spring99, 2 friends and I had a great time on this ride. It consisted of approximately 340 bike riding miles and 20+ hiking miles. We started at an elevation of approximately 9500 ft rode up to 10,600 ft and for 9 days we travelled up and down to Bryce canyon, then Grand Canyon and finally to Zion Natl Park which was at an elevation of approximately 4000 ft. It was a great trip. There were a total of 17 on the ride from all over the USA.

I'm standing next to a rock formation on a hike thru Bryce Canyon. The formation is called a Hoodoo and it is formed from the icing and thawing of rainwater on the rock in this area of the country.
Here are some photos from the Fall 2001 Cannonball Century in Fredericksburg, Va.
